The Partition resulted in the displacement of countless families, shattered communities and unimaginable human suffering. Women faced grave attacks on their dignity and countless lives were lost amid violence and upheaval. The memories of those who endured the tragedy remain an inseparable part of India’s history.
On Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, the nation remembers with solemn respect the countless innocent victims and those who made the ultimate sacrifice during one of the darkest chapters of the country’s past.
The occasion also serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of division, hatred and violence. It calls upon every citizen to learn from history and work towards strengthening the bonds of unity, harmony and mutual respect.
Let us pay tribute to the victims and honour the sacrifices of those who suffered during Partition by reaffirming our collective commitment to protecting the unity, integrity and sovereignty of India.
May the painful memories of the past inspire us to build a peaceful, united and stronger nation for generations to come.
