Cuttack, Aug. 16 (UDN): A late-night fire gutted a three-room thatched house in Sana Patasundarpur village under Kantapada block of Odisha’s Cuttack district, leaving a man and his nephew seriously injured.
The fire reportedly broke out while members of the family were asleep. The cause of the blaze remains unclear.
Cattle Rescue Turns Tragic
According to reports, the flames spread rapidly through the thatched structure, trapping cattle inside the premises. Around 10 cows were reportedly caught in the fire and sustained burn injuries.
After noticing the blaze, the man and his nephew rushed to rescue the cattle. However, both suffered serious burns during the rescue attempt.
They were initially provided medical treatment before being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further care. Their condition is reported to be serious.
Property Destroyed in Fire
The intense blaze caused extensive damage to the house and destroyed household belongings. A motorcycle kept on the premises was also reportedly gutted.
By the time the fire was brought under control, several belongings had been reduced to ashes, leaving the family facing significant losses.
The incident has caused shock in the village, while the exact circumstances behind the fire are yet to be established. Further details are awaited regarding the extent of the damage and the condition of the injured.
