Bhadrak, Aug. 16 (UDN): Fear gripped residents of Bhadrak district after a crocodile was reportedly spotted moving through floodwaters near a road in Bodak panchayat under Tihidi block on Saturday.
According to reports, the reptile allegedly dragged a stray dog into the water as flood conditions worsened in the area.
Crocodile Emerges Near Road
Floodwater from the Reba river has reportedly risen over the Hatnagar road, creating difficult conditions for residents in the affected area.
Amid the rising water, locals noticed a crocodile moving through the flooded stretch. The reptile was reportedly seen heading towards higher ground, triggering panic among villagers living nearby.
The sighting has raised concerns over the movement of crocodiles into populated areas as floodwaters spread beyond the river channels.
Rising Water Adds to Concern
Residents are also keeping a close watch on the flood situation as water continues to flow from upper areas towards lower-lying regions.
With the possibility of water levels rising further, the presence of the crocodile near a road has added another layer of risk for people in the affected areas.
Locals have been urged to remain cautious around flooded roads, waterways and submerged areas, where reptiles and other animals may move in search of safer ground.
