The university announced that the UG (+3), BSc ITM, BSc Computer Science and BEd (UDTE) fourth-semester examinations have been deferred until further notice.
The decision applies to all degree colleges affiliated with Utkal University, including self-financing institutions.
Fresh Exam Schedule to Be Announced
According to the university notification, a revised examination schedule will be issued at a later date.
Students have been advised to regularly check official communications from Utkal University and their respective colleges for updates on the new examination dates.
The postponement is aimed at preventing difficulties for students, teaching staff and examination personnel amid widespread flooding and waterlogging.
Floods Disrupt Normal Life
The decision comes as heavy rainfall has triggered flooding and waterlogging in several districts of Odisha, disrupting road connectivity and making travel difficult in many areas.
Several rivers, including the Baitarani, Brahmani, Salandi, Jalaka and Budhabalanga, are flowing at elevated levels, affecting communities in northern and coastal parts of the state.
The flood situation has been particularly severe in districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.
Over Five Lakh People Affected
According to the latest available reports, more than 5.15 lakh people across 947 villages, 331 gram panchayats, 49 blocks and five urban areas have been affected by the floods.
Authorities have reportedly evacuated more than 2.37 lakh people to around 293 relief camps, while rescue and relief operations continue in affected areas.
With several communities still facing waterlogging and disrupted transportation, the university’s decision to defer examinations is expected to provide relief to students who may otherwise have faced difficulties reaching examination centres.
Students are advised to rely only on official university and college notifications for the revised examination schedule.
