Jharsuguda: Aug 21 [UDN}:A tree plantation programme was organised at Mahasingh village under Palasada Gram Panchayat of Lakhanpur Block, on the initiative of the local villagers.
As part of the programme, around 250 saplings were planted on Thursday along both sides of a nearly 500-metre rural road, stretching from National Highway-49 to the outskirts of the village. The saplings were provided by the local Forest Department.
Among those who participated in the plantation drive were Upendra Seth, Buddhadeb Sahu, Deben Kusum, Jhasakumar Bhoi and Jhasaketan Barik, along with other villagers. The initiative was aimed at increasing green cover and promoting environmental conservation in the area.
