Youth Shot in Both Legs as Miscreants Loot Bike in Nayagarh

Nayagarh, Aug. 21 (UDN): A youth was critically injured after unidentified miscreants allegedly opened fire at him and fled with his motorcycle in Patia Paikasahi under Chandpur police limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.

The injured youth has been identified as Pintu Nayak, a resident of Patia Paikasahi.

Attack over motorcycle keys

According to preliminary reports, Pintu had gone to the river embankment near his village when a group of miscreants allegedly arrived on a motorcycle and demanded the keys to his Yamaha bike.

When he refused to hand them over, the assailants allegedly shot him in one leg. Despite sustaining the injury, Pintu reportedly continued to resist. The attackers then allegedly fired another shot, injuring his other leg.

Critically injured, Pintu collapsed at the spot. The assailants allegedly took the motorcycle and fled from the area.

Locals rush to rescue

Hearing the victim’s cries, local residents rushed to the spot and informed Chandpur police.

Police personnel reached the area and shifted Pintu to Chandpur hospital for immediate treatment. As his condition was reportedly critical, he was later referred to Bhubaneswar for advanced medical care.

Police launch investigation

Chandpur police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify the assailants.

Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting and robbery, including the route taken by the accused after fleeing with the motorcycle. Efforts are also underway to trace the stolen vehicle and establish the identity of those involved.

The incident has triggered concern among local residents, while further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
