Rayagada,, Aug 24 [UDN}:An awareness programme titled “Understanding POCSO: Rights and Laws” was organised at Agadtoy College, Rayagada, by the college’s Shaktishree Cell.
Renowned advocate Braj Sundar Nayak attended the programme as the resource person and spoke in detail about the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act), children’s legal rights, protection from sexual offences, and the legal procedures to be followed in such cases.
He explained various provisions of the POCSO Act and highlighted the importance of students being aware of their rights and safety. The college authorities also advised students to remain alert and informed about issues concerning their legal protection and personal safety.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Saraswati Ray, Principal of the college. Dr. L. Lizarani Satapathy, Coordinator of the Shaktishree Cell, coordinated the programme, while Shruti Deepali Samal, Co-Coordinator, assisted in conducting the event.
Students, lecturers and other faculty members participated in the programme and gained valuable knowledge about the POCSO Act and various aspects of child protection.
It was observed that such awareness programmes not only enhance legal awareness among students but also contribute significantly to creating a safe, informed and protective educational environment.
