Puri, Aug 26 [UDN}: A new queue-based darshan system is set to be introduced at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri very soon. A meeting regarding the proposed system was held in the conference hall of the Law Department at Lok Seva Bhawan, where the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar presented several models aimed at ensuring a more systematic and disciplined queue arrangement for devotees.
During the meeting, the different models presented by IIT Bhubaneswar were examined in detail. Discussions were held on identifying the most effective model and determining how it could be implemented efficiently at the temple to improve crowd management and ensure a smoother darshan experience for devotees.
Once the new system is implemented, crowd movement at the Sata Pahacha (Seven Steps) area can be regulated more effectively, allowing devotees to enter the temple premises in an orderly and controlled manner. The proposed arrangement is expected to significantly reduce congestion and improve the overall flow of devotees.
Under the proposed system, devotees will reportedly be able to access the temple through five separate ramps, enabling a more organized queue and smoother movement towards darshan. This arrangement is expected to increase the temple’s capacity to facilitate orderly darshan, with approximately 8,000 to 10,000 devotees per hour potentially able to have darshan in a regulated manner.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening crowd management, reducing inconvenience for devotees, and ensuring a safer, more systematic and efficient darshan experience at Srimandir.
