Baragada, Aug. 31 (UDN): All schools across Odisha’s Bargarh district will remain closed on Monday, August 31, after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Red Alert warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the region.

The closure was announced by the District Education Officer (DEO) following directions from the Collector and District Magistrate, citing concerns over student safety amid the adverse weather conditions.

According to the official notification, all government and private schools in the district will remain shut for the day as a precautionary measure.

“In view of the prediction of heavy to very heavy rainfall and the Red Warning issued for Bargarh district by the India Meteorological Department, all schools under the district shall remain closed on August 31, 2026,” the order stated.
