Bhubaneswar, Sept 1 [UDN}:Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to launch ‘Sambandha,’ a new cooperative membership programme aimed at expanding the cooperative movement and ensuring greater participation of families across the state.
The Chief Minister has set a target of making at least one person from every family a member of a cooperative society, thereby strengthening grassroots participation and improving access to cooperative benefits.
As part of the programme, PACS and LAMPS will provide dividends to farmer-members. More than 3 lakh beneficiaries will receive dividends worth ₹14 crore, providing direct financial benefits to cooperative members.
During the programme, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate several facilities, including 21 milk collection centres and 50 agricultural service centres. In addition, 46 consumer centres and 200 public service centres will be inaugurated to improve access to essential services and support facilities for rural communities.
The state government also plans to establish 100 model mandis equipped with improved infrastructure, with the objective of modernising agricultural markets and providing better facilities to farmers.
The Chief Minister is further scheduled to lay the foundation stones for three new warehouses, strengthening storage infrastructure and supporting the agricultural supply chain.
The ‘Sambandha’ initiative is expected to give a major boost to Odisha’s cooperative sector by increasing membership, expanding rural services, improving agricultural infrastructure and ensuring that cooperative benefits reach a larger number of farmers and families.
