Child Rights Protection Takes Centre Stage During a Courtesy Meeting with the Odisha Deputy Chief Minister

Bhubaneswar,  Sept 1 [UDN}:On the occasion of the completion of one year of the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR), I had the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

During the meeting, I presented him with a copy of the Commission’s quarterly publication, “Shaishab Surabhi”, which highlights issues related to children, their rights, welfare, protection, and overall development. We also held a meaningful and detailed discussion on various important matters concerning the protection of child rights and the creation of a better future for children across the state.

The discussion particularly focused on strengthening the efforts of the Commission to ensure that every child in Odisha enjoys safety, dignity, protection and access to their fundamental rights. Various aspects of child welfare, protection mechanisms, and initiatives aimed at ensuring the holistic development of children were also discussed.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to further strengthening the work of the Commission and developing effective measures to safeguard children from abuse, exploitation, neglect and other forms of vulnerability.

Ensuring a safe, secure, dignified and bright future for every child in Odisha remains a collective responsibility. The occasion provided an opportunity to deliberate on ways to make child protection systems more effective and child-friendly, while ensuring that the rights and welfare of every child remain at the centre of our efforts.
