Ganjam,Sept 2 [UDN}: Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) Chairperson Babita Patra attended a regional-level consultation meeting on family-based care and prevention of children from being separated from their families at the Rishikulya Conference Hall of the District Parishad Development Office in Chhatrapur, Ganjam.
The consultation meeting was organised jointly by OSCPCR Odisha and UNICEF. Discussions focused on strengthening the child protection system in the state and ensuring that children receive the necessary care, support, counselling and protection within their families.
Chairperson Babita Patra stressed that it is the collective responsibility of society to ensure that children are not separated from their families and communities unnecessarily. Special emphasis was laid on supporting vulnerable, neglected and at-risk children within a family environment while ensuring their education, healthcare, safety and overall development.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate Sachchidananda Nayak, DCPO, DSWO officials, UNICEF representatives, child protection agencies and voluntary organisations, among others.
The consultation reiterated that family remains the safest and best place for ensuring the protection, rights, well-being and healthy future of every child.
