Bhubaneswar, Sept 5 [UDN}:The Odisha Government’s Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment has signed six Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Odisha Postal Circle, ICRISAT, and the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) to bring improvements in digital agriculture, improved seeds, climate resilience, and nutrition.
Under the agreement with the Postal Department, Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) will reach farmers in villages and assist them with services such as farmer registration, Farmer ID creation, CM-KISAN and PM-KISAN e-KYC, and Aadhaar linking.
Through four MoUs with ICRISAT, efforts will focus on developing improved and climate-resilient varieties of pulses, chickpea, pea, pigeon pea, groundnut, and sesame. This will help farmers access better-quality seeds and boost agricultural productivity.
