Athagarh NAC Emerges as the Best NAC, Poised to Receive Prestigious Award

Athagarh , Sept 5 [UDN}:  Athagarh Notified Area Council (NAC) has been selected as the best urban local body by the Odisha Government for leading in increasing revenue through its own sources. As a recognition of this achievement, Athagarh NAC will receive a cash award of ₹1 crore from the state government.

The State-level Local Self-Government Day celebration, organised by the Housing and Urban Development Department, will be held on August 31 at 9 a.m. at the conference hall of Krushi Shiksha Bhavan.

Among the 139 urban local bodies in Odisha, 15 municipalities and NACs that have achieved significant growth in their own-source revenue have been selected for the award. These include four municipalities and several NACs, with Athagarh NAC being one of the awardees.

According to a letter issued by departmental director Aravind Daku, the Chief Minister will attend the state-level celebration and present the awards. NAC Chairperson Sasmita Rout will receive the award on behalf of Athagarh NAC.

Chairperson Sasmita Rout said the achievement was made possible by the guidance of MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain, the wholehearted support and dedication of the Vice-Chairperson and councillors towards the town’s development, and the sincere efforts of the Executive Officer, engineers and other employees.

Following the announcement, Chairperson Sasmita Rout, Vice-Chairperson B. Shubhrashankar Jyoti and all councillors were congratulated for the achievement.
