Kolnara, Sept 8 [UDN}:: The block-level volleyball tournament organised at Balikhmara village under Khedapada Panchayat of Kolnara Block concluded successfully.
Kolnara Block Vice-Chairman Haldhar Himirika attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Khedapada Sarpanch Narsingh Kilaka, Therubali businessman Anup Biswas, and Laxman Pidishika, representative of the Bisamakatak MLA, attended as honoured guests.
In an exciting final match, the Burjuguda team defeated Kartupadu to emerge as the champions. The winning team was awarded a trophy along with a cash prize of ₹7,000, while the runners-up received a trophy and ₹4,000 in prize money.
The tournament was successfully organised by President Jagarao Himirika, General Secretary China Ganta, and Treasurer Bhaskar Kalaka. Vijay Kumar Melaka officiated as the referee.
The tournament created a positive environment for promoting sporting talent among rural youth, improving physical fitness, discipline, and strengthening the spirit of brotherhood. It was also decided that a district-level volleyball tournament will be organised at Balikhmara village in January next year.
