Social Whispers to City-Wide Brand Buzz: How Lollapalooza India Orchestrated a Five-Year Journey Into Its Biggest Launch Campaign

Sep 09: What if a festival’s biggest campaign wasn’t confined to the festival at all?

Mumbai is in its Lolla era: Inside the festival’s biggest campaign yet

For Lollapalooza India 2027its milestone fifth edition, BookMyShow Live has turned that question into a city-wide creative platform, bringing together leading brands, artists and audiences around a shared cultural idea: “All You Need Is… Lollapalooza India.” The campaign takes the festival beyond conventional advertising to create a conversation that moves across Mumbai – with brands not simply appearing alongside Lollapalooza India, but finding their own voice within its world.

The idea is deliberately simple: an unfinished sentence that each brand gets to complete. For festival-goers who are already planning to attend Lollapalooza India 2027H&M answers with “And fits that go hard”, while Budweiser 0.0’s “And a bud by your side” urges you to bring all your friends together. From Johnnie Walker Luxe Blended Water, “And keep walking, to your own rhythm” built from the brand’s iconic “Keep Walking” philosophy, now turned into a literal festival behaviour of moving across multiple stages, the campaign carries each brand’s philosophy into the Lollapalooza India universe rather than merely plastering logos on billboards.

Fastrack’s “And hours that are never sane” lean into the beautifully unhinged hours of a festival weekend. Sprite’s “And a sip that doesn’t let the vibe dip” uses festival-goers’ own cultural lingo for the post-set energy slump, Airbnb weaves accommodation into the festival experience with “And a stay as unforgettable as the experience,” borrowing Lollapalooza India’s forever promise of giving fans the memories of a lifetime; Nivea’s “And a glow, protected till the last beat” comes alive through every unforgettable moment of the festival weekend.

RuPay’s “And a card that gives you the edge” translates its Lollapalooza India’s presale access benefits into a tangible consumer proposition. Vedica Himalayan Spring Water brings “And hydration to match the energy,” while Wellbeing Nutrition adds “And replenishment to keep you grooving,” both nodding to the continuous excitement that spans the two-day Lollapalooza India weekend. Apple Music, meanwhile, takes the most direct route with “And your love for music”, connecting the brand and festival through their shared cultural currency.

The launch campaign runs across high-impact outdoor locations including the Western and Eastern Express Highways, Airport Road, BKC, Mahalaxmi Racecourse, malls and shopping hubs and youth clusters across Mumbai, and extends beyond outdoor across digital, social, print, community and targeted communication. Together, these touchpoints turn the city into an extension of the festival, allowing Lollapalooza India 2027 to meet its audience not only where they buy tickets or consume content, but in the places where Mumbai lives and moves.

Commenting on the innovative 360-degree campaign, Dolly Davda, Head – Marketing, BookMyShow, said,

“Lollapalooza India has always been a celebration of different worlds coming together – legacy sounds, unexpected moments, colliding cultures, passionate communities and ideas finding common ground through music. Our marketing strives to achieve that same spirit. We didn’t just announce the festival; we invited a community to remember why they loved it, we told them why it mattered, and then we invited an entire city to finish the sentence. Each brand brought its own personality to the idea, but it is the coming together of these worlds that makes it truly fan-first. And that is what Lollapalooza has always stood for – bringing people and perspectives together to create something bigger than the sum of its parts.”

The city-wide campaign is the culmination of a broader fifth-edition marketing journey that clocked a cumulative reach of over 1.1 billion, rooted in the festival’s relationship with its audience. In the days leading up to the announcement, BookMyShow Live began the campaign by turning nostalgia into advocacy, resurfacing defining moments from previous editions—fans singing every word, electrifying artist performances and unforgettable crowd experiences. Rather than selling the festival, the content on Lollapalooza India’s social channels invited its existing community to relive it, making loyalists and music aficionados feel seen and invested. By the time the announcement arrived, this core audience had already become the festival’s earliest evangelists, priming conversations and building anticipation organically.

Once the announcement was public, BookMyShow Live shifted from memory to narrative through a four-part emotional content story that revealed the festival’s deeper cultural impact. The Awakening spotlighted the people and collective effort behind the spectacle, from public servants and craftsmen to production crews; The Belonging captured the human connections and shared joy that music creates; The Hunger charted the growing scale and appetite of audiences returning year after year; and The Legacy anchored Lollapalooza India in permanence, using landmark moments such as Green Day’s India debut to position the festival as  a marker of India’s evolving music culture, where buying a ticket means participating in a larger cultural movement.

The integrated campaign, which brought fans from nearly 350 cities, sparked the 2027 line-up to life through a multi-format announcement featuring Olivia Dean, Limp Bizkit, KATSEYE, Fontaines D.C. and Aditya Gadhvi, alongside a diverse roster of international and indie acts. Artist clues were seeded before the full reveal, which rolled out across digital, social, outdoor, print, community outreach and targeted communication. Functional communication ran alongside emotional storytelling across BookMyShow’s digital ecosystem and Lollapalooza India’s social channels, ensuring audiences had the information required to make informed purchase decisions.

Lollapalooza India 2027 takes place on January 23rd and 24th, 2027 at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Mumbai.
