Bhubaneswar,Sept 11 [UDN}:Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari has said that land-related fraud and manipulation will face a major setback in Odisha as the digitisation of land records has reached nearly 99 per cent completion.
The Minister said that with the majority of Records of Rights (RoR) now digitised, it will no longer be easy for anyone to illegally alter, tamper with or make old land records disappear. The digitisation process is expected to strengthen transparency in land administration and make it more difficult to carry out fraudulent changes in ownership and land records.
Pujari said the government is taking the digitisation of land and property records seriously in order to protect genuine landowners and curb illegal practices associated with traditional paper-based records. The availability of digitised records will also help authorities verify land ownership and historical records more efficiently.
According to the Minister, 99 per cent of the Records of Rights have already been digitised across the state. This is expected to significantly reduce the scope for manipulation of old records and strengthen the overall land-record management system.
He further informed that a detailed report on the progress of land-record digitisation in Odisha will be submitted to the Centre on Thursday evening. The report will highlight the progress achieved by the state in digitising land records and improving the transparency and accessibility of revenue-related information.
The government believes that the digitisation drive will play an important role in preventing land fraud, safeguarding property rights and making the revenue administration more transparent and accountable.
