Booth Verification Ordered for Panchayat Elections, With Officials Directed to Review Polling Arrangements and Ensure Proper Facilities

Bhubaneswar,  Sept 11 [UDN}:The State Election Commission has taken a major step in preparation for the upcoming Panchayat elections. Instructions have been issued for the physical verification of polling booths to ensure that all booths are properly prepared and suitable for conducting elections.

Block-level and municipal officials have been directed to physically inspect and verify the polling booths. The State Election Commissioner stated that any problems or deficiencies identified at polling stations will be rectified before the elections.

The Commission has also decided to take strict action against misinformation and propaganda spread through Artificial Intelligence (AI) on social media. If complaints are received from any area regarding such activities, the matter will be investigated by the Cyber Crime authorities.

According to the proposed election schedule, Panchayat elections will be conducted first, followed by municipal elections. The Panchayat elections are expected to begin from the first week of April, while the municipal elections may be held towards the end of April or in the first week of May.

The work related to delimitation and reservation is the responsibility of the government and is expected to be completed by October 31. Meanwhile, the preparation of the voters’ list is scheduled to be completed by February 10, with the entire process set to be fully digitized.
