Calls Grow Louder for Police Outpost at Podagada as Locals in Koraput Seek Better Law and Order Arrangements

Koraput: Sept 16 [UDN}:The demand for establishing a dedicated police outpost at Podagada in Koraput district has gained momentum, with local residents citing the considerable distance from the existing Koraput Sadar Police Station and growing concerns over public safety.

Podagada is located approximately 18 kilometres from the Koraput Sadar Police Station. Residents say that this distance creates difficulties in reaching the police station quickly during emergencies, particularly when immediate police intervention is required. The situation has raised concerns among villagers regarding the timely reporting of incidents and access to law-enforcement assistance.

At the same time, concerns have reportedly been increasing over theft, robbery, road accidents and other criminal activities in and around the area. Residents believe that the absence of a nearby police facility can make it difficult to respond promptly to such incidents and ensure effective policing in the locality.

Against this backdrop, residents of Podagada have intensified their demand for the establishment of a police outpost in the area. Koraput District Congress Committee president Rupak Turuk, along with local residents, has urged the government to consider the demand and take necessary steps towards setting up the proposed outpost.

According to the residents, the establishment of a police outpost at Podagada would significantly improve law-and-order management, emergency response and crime prevention in the surrounding areas. A permanent police presence closer to the community is also expected to provide residents with easier access to police services and strengthen their sense of security.

Local people hope that the government and police authorities will examine the geographical distance, population needs, road connectivity and prevailing law-and-order situation before taking an appropriate decision. They believe that a police outpost at Podagada would play an important role in protecting life and property, preventing criminal activities and ensuring faster police response during emergencies.
