Kotpad, Sept 17 [UDN}: Former Congress candidate Anam Dian has been appointed as Secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) following recognition by the Pradesh Congress leadership. Dian, who had previously contested as a Congress candidate, has also been entrusted with the responsibility of President of the Tribal Cell of the Koraput District Congress Committee.
A felicitation programme was organised at the Congress office in Kotpad on Monday to mark his appointment. More than a hundred Congress workers and supporters gathered to welcome Dian and presented him with floral garlands as part of the programme.
A meeting was subsequently held at the Congress office, which was presided over by Town Congress President Mani Prasad Pattnaik. Several senior Congress leaders, office-bearers, councillors and party workers attended the meeting.
Among those present were senior Congress leaders Prakash Chandra Mohanty, Jitendra Nath Mahapatra, Ghanshyam Bisoi, Manohar Bisoi, Muna Khan, Santosh Mishra, M.D. Sapeshal, M. Banerjee, Puran Nayak, Councillor Salma Begum, Rehman Khan, Girish Pattnaik, Harish Pattnaik, Meera Chalan, Rang Hota, Councillor M.D. Yusuf (Tinku), party organiser M. Ramu, former councillor Bharat Bhandar Karia, Umesh Brahma, A. Santosh and Tapan Mahapatra, besides many other Congress workers.
The programme also featured a special felicitation for young journalist Shailendra Madala, a correspondent associated with the Odia daily newspaper Sakala.
During an interaction with the journalist, Dian reportedly spoke about the inspiration behind his decision to join and work with the Congress organisation, referring to the growing interest among young people and supporters in Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party.
