Mayurbhanj, Sept. 17 (UDN): A container truck carrying clothes and garment materials was gutted after catching fire on National Highway-18 near Sukhuapada Toll Gate in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
The truck was reportedly heading from Baripada towards Jamshedpur when the incident occurred.
Fire Breaks Out Beside Highway
According to preliminary reports, the driver had pulled over on the roadside and was cooking when flames suddenly broke out near the vehicle. The fire soon spread to the container, which was loaded with clothes and other garment-related materials.
The driver reportedly managed to escape unharmed.
Fire Services Rush To Spot
Following the incident, police and fire services personnel reached the location and began efforts to bring the blaze under control. The operation was aimed at preventing the fire from spreading to nearby areas and ensuring the safety of motorists on the highway.
The large quantity of clothing material inside the container is believed to have intensified the blaze.
Cause Under Investigation
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been officially established. The circumstances indicate that the fire may have originated while the driver was cooking beside the parked vehicle, though the cause remains subject to verification.
The incident triggered concern among motorists and residents using the busy highway. Some locals also expressed dissatisfaction over the reported delay in the arrival of fire services personnel.
