Bhubaneswar, Sep 19: The Odisha government has partnered with the State Bank of India (SBI) to strengthen digital payment facilities across urban local bodies (ULBs), aiming to make everyday municipal services simpler and more convenient for citizens.
The state government and SBI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand and improve digital payment infrastructure for municipal services across Odisha.
The partnership is expected to make routine payments more convenient for residents by providing easier digital options and reducing the need to visit municipal offices in person. Citizens will be able to benefit from a smoother payment experience as urban bodies strengthen their digital systems.
For municipalities, the move can improve the collection, recording and monitoring of payments. Greater use of digital transactions can also reduce paperwork, support more efficient financial management and improve transparency in municipal operations.
The initiative comes as Odisha’s cities and towns continue to grow and demand for faster, technology-driven public services increases. A stronger digital payment system can help urban local bodies manage these growing requirements while making citizen interactions more efficient.
