Ganjam, Sept 22 [UDN}:A preparedness meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Ganjam District Collector to review the district administration’s arrangements for dealing with the possible impact of a Deep Depression developing over the Bay of Bengal.
During the meeting, preparedness measures across several key departments were reviewed, including the functioning of control rooms, evacuation of vulnerable people, identification and readiness of shelter centres, drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare services and rescue operations.
The District Collector directed all concerned departments to remain fully prepared and ensure that their respective responsibilities are carried out in a coordinated, timely and effective manner. Officials were also asked to maintain close coordination and ensure that essential services and emergency response mechanisms remain operational during the adverse weather conditions.
The meeting assumes significance as the district administration is taking precautionary measures in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall and associated weather impacts linked to the developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal.
