Delhi, Sept 22 [UDN}: President Droupadi Murmu has praised the effective measures taken by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in addressing critical environmental issues, particularly those related to air quality and waste management.
Addressing an environmental programme, the President said that the initiatives undertaken by the Tribunal are contributing to advancing international discussions and dialogue on environmental matters. She highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional mechanisms and collective efforts to address the growing environmental challenges facing countries across the world.
President Murmu said that several natural disasters witnessed in the recent past have clearly demonstrated the urgent need for stronger climate action to reduce the impact of climate change. The increasing frequency and intensity of climate-related events, she noted, underline the importance of coordinated efforts to protect the environment and communities.
She further observed that the climate crisis has become extremely serious and requires active cooperation among all stakeholders at the local, regional and global levels. Governments, institutions, communities, experts and other stakeholders must work together to develop effective and sustainable solutions to address climate-related risks, she said.
The President stressed that environmental protection and climate action require sustained commitment, cooperation and collective responsibility, particularly as countries continue to face challenges linked to pollution, waste generation, changing weather patterns and natural disasters.
