Bhubaneswar, Sept. 22 (UDN): The Odisha Housing and Urban Development Department has introduced a round-the-clock helpline, ‘Sahar Sathi’ (1929), to make it easier for urban residents to report civic problems and track the status of their complaints.
The 24×7 helpline will serve as a single point of contact for citizens seeking assistance with a range of municipal services.
Residents can use the service to lodge complaints concerning issues such as sanitation, water supply, street lighting and other civic amenities provided by urban local bodies.
One of the key features of the initiative is the ability for citizens to receive updates on the progress of their complaints, allowing them to monitor how their grievances are being addressed.
The department said the helpline is aimed at strengthening citizen access to municipal services and improving the efficiency of grievance redressal mechanisms across urban areas of Odisha.
With the launch of Sahar Sathi, citizens can now use a single helpline number for reporting civic issues and seeking updates, potentially reducing the need to approach different municipal offices for individual complaints.
The initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to make urban civic services more accessible, responsive and citizen-focused.
