Bhubaneswar, Sept 23 [UDN}:The Odisha Fire Services Department has launched a month-long inspection drive to check fire safety arrangements in malls, commercial establishments and apartment buildings across the state.
As part of the initiative, fire officials are conducting detailed inspections to determine whether the establishments have adequate fire-fighting and emergency safety measures in place. The authorities are particularly checking the availability and functioning of fire extinguishers, fire-fighting equipment and other mandatory safety arrangements.
The inspections are being carried out strictly to ensure that establishments comply with prescribed fire safety norms and that adequate arrangements are available to protect occupants and visitors in the event of a fire or other emergency.
The department has initiated the drive with the objective of strengthening public safety and preventing fire-related incidents. The inspection campaign will continue for one month from today.
The initiative has been undertaken with the broader goal of building a “Safe Odisha, Developed Odisha”, with emphasis on ensuring safer public and residential spaces across the state.
