Bhubaneswar, Sept 24 [UDN}:Following the death of a student in the collapse of a private PG hostel in Delhi, the government has announced steps to improve accommodation and safety facilities for students from the state pursuing their studies in the national capital.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a plan to construct hostel facilities in Delhi with accommodation for around 10,000 students. The initiative is aimed at providing safer and more suitable residential facilities for students studying in Delhi.
The Chief Minister said that the government has started the process of identifying suitable land for the proposed hostel project. A comprehensive policy is also being prepared to facilitate the construction and management of the hostel facilities.
The announcement comes in the aftermath of the private PG hostel collapse in Delhi, in which a student reportedly lost his life. The incident has raised concerns over the safety and living conditions of students staying in privately operated paying guest accommodations.
The proposed hostel is expected to provide students with a more secure and organised accommodation option while studying in Delhi. The government’s decision is being presented as a step towards addressing the accommodation-related concerns of students and ensuring better residential facilities for them.
