Nabarangpur, Sept 26 [UDN}: An inter-departmental coordination meeting was held at the Ashok Mehta Conference Hall of the District Collector’s Office in Nabarangpur to ensure the education, safety, empowerment and overall development of girl children and to strengthen the implementation of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme in the district.
The meeting was chaired by Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswajit Barman and organised by the District Social Welfare Department. Officials and representatives from various departments concerned with the welfare and development of girl children participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted on the status and progress of various programmes being implemented under BBBP, along with discussions on the future course of action. The sex ratio among girl children in Nabarangpur district was also discussed, with participants stressing the need for sustained efforts to promote a positive social attitude towards girls, ensure equal opportunities and create greater awareness about their rights.
Particular emphasis was laid on reducing the school dropout rate among girls. The meeting discussed coordinated efforts by departments including Education, Women and Child Development, Health, Mission Shakti, Livelihood, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, and Skill Development to ensure that girls do not discontinue their education and are able to continue their studies regularly.
The participants also stressed the importance of coordinated action to ensure the continuation of girls’ education, strengthen their safety, prevent child marriage, promote skill development and help girls become self-reliant. Different departments were urged to work in coordination and make their respective schemes and programmes more effective in achieving these objectives.
Officials and representatives attending the meeting assured active cooperation through their respective departments towards achieving the objectives of the BBBP scheme. They emphasised integrated measures for protecting the rights of girl children and promoting their education, health, safety and empowerment.
The meeting also stressed the need for regular review and monitoring of initiatives being undertaken by different departments so that targeted and measurable outcomes can be achieved.
