At present, Odisha has a total of 47,902 mobile towers, including 12,602 5G towers, with plans to upgrade even more towers to 5G. To achieve the goal of connecting unconnected villages, the government has formed a task force under the leadership of the District Collector to address issues related to land acquisition for new towers.

Minister Mahaling emphasized that the state is committed to improving internet and mobile services, even in remote, hilly regions where connectivity has been a longstanding challenge. The move is seen as a significant step toward enhancing digital accessibility across Odisha, ensuring that all residents, regardless of their location, benefit from improved connectivity.
