Joint Inspection of Paddy and Rice Stocks Underway in Balasore to Verify Stock Position and Ensure Transparency

Balasore:Sept 29 [UDN}: A Joint Physical Verification (JPV) of paddy and rice stocks has been initiated jointly by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department.

As part of the verification exercise, officials visited a rice mill in Balasore district and conducted a detailed physical inspection, verification and counting of the paddy and rice stocks stored at the mill.

The officials specifically checked whether the quantity of stock recorded in the official documents and registers matched the actual stock physically available in the mill’s godowns. The exercise was aimed at establishing the accuracy of stock records and ensuring that the quantities reported on paper corresponded with the ground reality.

During the inspection, the officials carried out a direct assessment of the available paddy and rice, counted the stocks and cross-checked the findings with the relevant records maintained by the mill. Such joint physical verification is intended to strengthen monitoring of government-linked paddy and rice stocks and ensure greater transparency and accountability in the storage and handling process.
