Bhubaneswar, Sept. 29 (UDN): A late-night road accident near Sainik School Square in Bhubaneswar triggered concern after a Hyva truck reportedly went out of control and crashed into an electricity pole in the Maitri Vihar police station area.
The impact left the heavy vehicle wedged between the damaged pole and electrical wires, while a roadside boundary wall was also damaged.
Truck Halted Before Hitting Establishments
Following the collision, the Hyva reportedly moved towards nearby commercial establishments, including a showroom, guest house and bank.
However, the fallen electric pole and tangled power lines stopped the truck from moving further, reportedly preventing a more serious collision with the establishments and vehicles in the vicinity.
A vehicle parked near the accident site was also reportedly damaged.
Driver Trapped, Rescued By Police
The truck driver became trapped inside the mangled vehicle following the crash.
Police personnel from the area, who reached the spot with two PCR vans, rescued the driver after forcing open the damaged door.
The injured driver was subsequently shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Police Begin Probe
Maitri Vihar police have seized the damaged Hyva and detained the driver for questioning.
Investigators are now examining the circumstances that led to the truck losing control and crashing into the electric pole.
