Bhubaneswar: Oct 1 [UDN}:Six Bills are expected to be introduced during the Monsoon Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling said.
Speaking ahead of the session, Mahaling said the government is prepared to discuss issues concerning the interests of Odisha that may be raised by the Opposition. He said matters related to the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026 (MMDR), or any other issue raised by the Opposition, can be taken up for discussion.
The Minister clarified that the Speaker will decide the priority and manner in which such issues are discussed in the Assembly. The government, he said, would participate in discussions in accordance with the Speaker’s decision.
Mahaling further stated that any issue concerning the interests of the state can be discussed in the House. The Odisha Assembly’s Monsoon Session is scheduled from September 22 to October 3, 2026, with nine working days.
The MMDR Amendment Act has emerged as a major issue for the Opposition, with the BJD and Congress seeking discussion on its implications for Odisha.
