High-Level Meeting Focuses on Revival of 1,658 Lift Irrigation Projects Across Odisha for Farmers’ Benefit

Bhubaneswar,  Oct 5 [UDN}:A high-level review meeting was held to assess the repair, restoration and revival of 1,658 lift irrigation projects functioning under the Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC).

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari attended the meeting and discussed measures to inspect the affected irrigation projects and accelerate restoration work. The condition of the projects impacted by the recent heavy rainfall and flooding was reviewed, with emphasis on taking timely steps to bring the damaged systems back into operation.

During the meeting, officials discussed the extent of damage to lift irrigation infrastructure and the need for coordinated action to ensure that farmers do not face prolonged disruption of irrigation facilities.

Special emphasis was placed on better coordination among the Energy Department, Water Resources Department and the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) for the restoration of projects damaged by incessant rain and floodwaters.

The meeting also stressed the importance of field-level inspection, prompt repair of damaged infrastructure and expediting restoration measures so that the affected lift irrigation projects can resume functioning at the earliest.
