Nabarangpur, Oct 16 [UDN}: Hirli Dangari, one of the prominent tourist destinations in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district, is set to undergo a major transformation with the launch of an integrated tourism infrastructure development and beautification project worth approximately ₹4.99 crore. The initiative aims to improve tourist facilities, enhance the scenic appeal of the hill area and establish it as an attractive destination for tourism, recreation and family outings.
The foundation stone for the proposed development project was laid on the morning of October 8 by Nabarangpur MLA and District Planning Committee Chairman Gouri Shankar Majhi, along with District Collector Dr Maheswar Swain. Several officials and engineers from different departments were present on the occasion, including Public Works Department Superintending Engineer Kshirdhar Kanapan, Nabarangpur Block Development Officer Sunil Khora and Municipal Executive Officer Ashok Kumar Karda.
The project, estimated to cost ₹499.90 lakh, will cover a wide range of infrastructure improvements designed to provide visitors with a more comfortable, safe and enjoyable experience. The existing viewpoint and watchtower at Hirli Dangari will be renovated, while roads will be widened and improved to ensure smoother access for tourists. The area will also receive improved illumination, including the installation of high-mast lights to enhance visibility and safety.
A modern entrance complex will be developed, featuring a main entrance gate, security room, ticket counter and entrance plaza. New internal roads will facilitate the movement of vehicles within the tourist destination, while dedicated parking facilities will help manage the increasing number of visitors.
The proposed development plan also includes the establishment of a museum, café and outdoor dining facilities, providing tourists with additional opportunities for recreation and relaxation. Decorative fountains, gazebos and other entertainment facilities will be introduced to enhance the overall ambience and aesthetic appeal of the location.
Further improvements will include the renovation of the existing staircase leading towards the foothills, development of existing and new watchtowers, construction of new pathways and the creation of dedicated recreational spaces. An outdoor gym and a children’s playground will also be developed, enabling families and visitors to enjoy a wider range of activities.
In addition, the project envisages the construction of toilet blocks and the installation of hedges and artistic features along roadside stretches. These facilities are expected to improve the convenience of visitors while contributing to the overall beautification and organised development of the tourist destination.
The integrated development of Hirli Dangari is expected to significantly strengthen the tourism infrastructure of Nabarangpur district. With improved accessibility, modern amenities, recreational facilities and enhanced scenic attractions, the destination is expected to emerge as a popular centre for family outings and leisure activities.
The project is also expected to support the local economy by attracting more tourists, creating opportunities for local businesses and encouraging tourism-related activities in the surrounding areas. The development initiative marks an important step towards promoting Nabarangpur’s tourism potential and transforming Hirli Dangari into a more attractive and visitor-friendly destination.
