Compared to last year, a larger number of security personnel are likely to be deployed to manage the anticipated festive crowds and prevent any untoward incidents during the celebrations.
A company of the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) Rapid Action Force (RAF), comprising more than 100 armed personnel, arrived in Cuttack on Wednesday afternoon. The force will assist the Commissionerate Police in maintaining law and order, particularly in sensitive areas of the city.
The security deployment will remain in place from the beginning of the Puja festivities until the completion of the idol immersion processions.
Arrangements have also been made to accommodate the paramilitary personnel and their officers at the Kalyan Mandap of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation, located near Biju Bhawan.
As part of the security strategy, a detailed deployment plan has been prepared for several sensitive locations, including Dargah Bazaar, Hatipokhari, Kesharpur, Buxi Bazaar, Jobra and Howrah Motor Chhak. Personnel will be stationed in these areas according to their respective security requirements.
According to reports, around 60 platoons of police personnel are likely to be deployed across the city, in addition to the paramilitary force. The arrangements are aimed at strengthening surveillance, controlling crowds, ensuring smooth vehicular movement and responding promptly to any law-and-order situation.
With thousands of devotees expected to visit puja pandals across the city, the Commissionerate Police’s enhanced security measures are intended to ensure that Durga Puja and the subsequent immersion processions are conducted peacefully and safely.
The deployment of additional forces is expected to play a key role in maintaining public order and ensuring a safe and orderly festive atmosphere throughout Cuttack.
