Kotia Border Dispute Intensifies as BJD Opposes Andhra Pradesh Election Activities and Raises ‘Andhra Go Back’ Slogan to Assert Odisha’s Territorial Claims

Kotia , Oct 26 [UDN}:  The announcement by Andhra Pradesh to conduct elections in Kotia on November 3 has intensified the long-standing border dispute between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Strongly opposing the move, a 16-member delegation of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) visited Kotia and raised the slogan “Andhra Go Back,” asserting that Kotia belonged to Odisha and would continue to remain an integral part of the state.

The BJD team expressed its opposition to Andhra Pradesh’s decision to organise elections in the disputed border region, reiterating the party’s stand on protecting Odisha’s territorial rights and safeguarding the interests of the people living in Kotia. The delegation emphasised that Kotia was, is and will remain part of Odisha, and called for the protection of the state’s administrative authority over the region.

Meanwhile, Koraput Sub-Collector Fabi Rasid visited several villages in Kotia to assess the prevailing situation. During the visit, she interacted with local residents, reviewed the ground realities and discussed issues concerning the border area. The administrative outreach comes amid growing tensions following Andhra Pradesh’s announcement regarding the proposed elections.

The latest developments have once again brought the sensitive Odisha–Andhra Pradesh border dispute into focus. The situation in Kotia is being closely watched, with attention centred on the steps the Odisha government may take to address the issue and protect the state’s interests. The coming days are expected to be significant as the dispute over the proposed November 3 elections continues to draw political and administrative attention.
