Odisha on Weather Alert as Cyclone ‘Arnab’ Threatens to Trigger Rainfall Across All 30 Districts; Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari Issues Update

Bhubaneswar,  Oct 27 [UDN}:  Odisha Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari has stated that all 30 districts of Odisha are likely to experience rainfall due to the impact of Cyclone ‘Arnab’. He warned that the cyclone could affect the state even if it makes landfall in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, with Malkangiri district expected to face a comparatively greater impact.

The minister said that he and senior government officials had already reached the field to oversee preparedness and response measures. The cyclone is also expected to affect Chhattisgarh, raising concerns about heavy rainfall and the possibility of rising water levels in the Mahanadi River.

Emphasising the government’s preparedness, Pujari said that all necessary measures were being taken to prevent a potential flood situation. The Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Health Department have been placed on alert to respond to any emergency.

As part of the cyclone response strategy, IAS officers will be deployed in five districts to coordinate preparedness and relief operations, while ministers will remain present in eight districts to monitor the situation and ensure effective implementation of precautionary measures.

The state government is closely monitoring the evolving weather situation, with particular attention to vulnerable districts, rainfall intensity, river water levels and the risk of flooding. The minister stressed that the administration was prepared to respond promptly to minimise the impact of the cyclone and safeguard lives and property.
