Kotia Dispute: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Urges All Parties to Stand United for Odisha

Bhubaneswar,  Oct 30 (UDN):   Dharmendra Pradhan has called for a united and collective effort beyond political party affiliations to safeguard Odisha’s interests in Kotia, emphasizing that the region holds immense significance for the state’s identity, sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said all political parties and public representatives must come together to address the long-standing border dispute and work towards a peaceful and lasting resolution.

Pradhan highlighted the importance of Kotia to Odisha and the Odia community, stating that the region represents the pride, identity, sovereignty and unity of the state. He expressed concern over the border dispute that has persisted for a considerable period, noting that the issue requires serious attention and coordinated action from all stakeholders.

Stressing that Odisha’s larger interests must take precedence over political differences, Pradhan urged leaders across party lines to work together in the interest of the state and its people. He said protecting Odisha’s unity and territorial integrity is a shared responsibility that cannot be left to any single political party or individual.

Recalling his earlier efforts to address the issue, Pradhan said he had written letters to former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in the past in connection with matters concerning the dispute. He underlined that political leaders have an important responsibility to facilitate a solution through constructive engagement and dialogue.

Pradhan further emphasized the need to create a cordial and harmonious atmosphere through discussions among the concerned parties. He suggested that sustained communication, mutual understanding and cooperation are essential to resolving the dispute and preventing further tensions in the border region.

Concluding his appeal, Pradhan reiterated that safeguarding Odisha’s interests in Kotia requires unity, cooperation and a collective commitment that transcends party politics. He called upon political leaders and stakeholders to rise above partisan considerations and work together to protect the state’s identity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
