Chhatrapur, Nov 2 (UDN): In view of the possibility of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall and the prevailing flood situation in Ganjam district, the district administration has issued two important orders to strengthen emergency response and ensure public safety.
As part of precautionary measures to protect students, all educational institutions across Ganjam district will remain closed until November 3. Meanwhile, the Sunday holiday scheduled for November 1 has been cancelled for all government employees, who have been directed to report to their respective offices to expedite emergency response, relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations.
According to Order No. 3277 issued by the District Collector’s Office, the decision to close educational institutions was taken following the Yellow and Orange weather warnings issued for Ganjam district by the Special Relief Commissioner’s Office.
The closure will apply to all Anganwadi centres, primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, degree colleges, technical educational institutions and universities across the district until November 3.
However, despite the closure of educational institutions, all teaching and non-teaching staff have been instructed to remain present at their respective workplaces and discharge their assigned duties.
In a separate directive issued under Order No. 3275, the district administration has cancelled the Sunday holiday on November 1 in view of the ongoing flood situation and the need to intensify post-disaster restoration and rehabilitation activities.
Accordingly, all government offices across Ganjam district will remain open on Sunday. Officials and employees working in district-level, sub-divisional, block-level and other government offices have been instructed to attend their respective workplaces and actively participate in emergency management, relief distribution and restoration operations.
The administration has also made it clear that strict disciplinary action will be initiated against employees who fail to comply with these instructions.
The twin directives have been issued to ensure uninterrupted administrative functioning, strengthen disaster management efforts and accelerate relief and rehabilitation activities as Ganjam continues to face the threat of heavy rainfall and flooding.
