AIIMS Bhubaneswar Launches 4D Spine and Gait Lab

5th December 2024: AIIMS Bhubaneswar has unveiled a groundbreaking 4D Spine and Gait Analysis Lab, the first of its kind in Eastern India, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The lab was inaugurated by the institute’s Executive Director, Ashutosh Biswas.

This cutting-edge facility is designed to enhance the services of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) department, offering specialized care through thotic Prosthetic and Orservices, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and other supportive treatments. It aims to provide personalized rehabilitation for patients with a range of conditions, including musculoskeletal disorders, locomotor disabilities, and sports-related injuries.

During the event, Biswas highlighted the lab’s role in improving patient care by offering detailed spinal assessments and real-time biomechanical data on joint movements. The lab is particularly beneficial for treating conditions such as stroke, scoliosis, lower back pain, and post-polio paralysis, while also aiding in sports rehabilitation and performance recovery.

The non-invasive system, which is free of radiation, enables precise diagnostics, helping to identify hidden injuries, muscular imbalances, and other mobility issues. The inauguration was attended by key medical figures, including Medical Superintendent Dillip Kumar Parida and heads of various departments.
