Bhubaneswar, Dec 6: A week-long exposure trip for 50 students from Maharashtra, organized under the Central government’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Yuva Sangam’ programme, wrapped up on Thursday at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar. The initiative aimed to promote cultural and educational exchanges between the youth of different states, giving students a unique opportunity to connect with Odisha’s vibrant culture and heritage.
During the valedictory event, IIT Bhubaneswar Director, Shreepad Karmalkar, commended the programme for providing the students from Maharashtra a chance to immerse themselves in Odisha’s rich traditions, culture, and history. The event included a heartfelt session where the students shared their experiences from the trip and were awarded certificates of participation.
Throughout their visit, the students engaged with various prominent figures, including a meeting with Odisha’s Governor Raghubar Das. They explored iconic cultural and historical sites such as the Sun Temple in Konark, Lingaraj Temple, Puri, and the Udayagiri and Khandagiri caves, as well as natural wonders like Chilika Lake and Chandrabhaga Beach.
In addition to the cultural exploration, the students visited cutting-edge research and skill development institutions, including the ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre, the Central Tool Room and Training Centre, and the Skill Development Institute. They also had an insightful interaction with corporate leaders at Infosys Bhubaneswar and visited villages adopted by IIT Bhubaneswar, where they learned about the impact of local startups incubated by the institute.
The trip was designed around five key themes: tourism, traditions, development, people-to-people connection, and technology. It provided the students with a well-rounded and enriching experience, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of Odisha’s diverse cultural heritage and its progress in various sectors.
