11th December 2024: The Odisha government aims to complete its Metro Rail Project by December 2027, as announced by Krishna Chandra Mahapatra, the Minister of Urban Development, in the state assembly. The project will include the establishment of metro stations at 20 prominent locations throughout the city.
For the 2023-24 financial year, the government has allocated 210 crore rupees for the project, with an additional 1,000 crore rupees approved for the 2024-25 financial year. The Metro Rail Project is expected to greatly enhance urban transportation, offering a modern and efficient public transport system for residents.
With a targeted completion date of December 2027, the project is part of Odisha’s broader efforts to improve its urban infrastructure and provide better connectivity for its citizens.
