
13th December 2024: Odisha has taken a significant step forward in strengthening its sports infrastructure with the opening of the Badminton High-Performance Center at Kalinga Stadium. This new facility, created through a partnership between the Odisha government, the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation, and Dalmia Bharat, aims to foster and develop badminton talent in the state.
The centre has been established in collaboration of Odisha Government with Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation and Dalmia Bharat.

The center was officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, with distinguished guests including Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, renowned badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, and leaders from the Dalmia Group, Punit and Goutam Dalmia. Rajesh Patil, President of the Odisha State Badminton Association (OSBA), and several other dignitaries were also present.
Equipped with eight modern badminton courts, seating for 400 spectators, accommodation facilities for 36 athletes, and a 200-seat amphitheater, the center is designed to support both training and competition at the highest level. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Majhi expressed his vision for Odisha to become a prominent name in the global badminton arena in the coming years, with this center playing a key role in that journey. This initiative reflects the state’s ongoing commitment to developing world-class sports facilities and nurturing future sports stars.
