2nd January 2025: Odisha is experiencing an intense cold wave, with temperatures dipping below 10°C in eight cities, making it one of the coldest winter spells in recent times. Rourkela has recorded the lowest temperature so far this season, with the mercury dropping to a chilling 7°C last night, making it the coldest city in the state.
Other cities such as Sambalpur, Baripada, and Cuttack have also seen significant drops in temperatures, adding to the winter’s intensity. The cold wave has left residents bundling up in warm clothing and taking extra precautions to stay comfortable in the frigid conditions.
With this unexpected dip in temperatures, the region is facing one of its coldest winters, and the chill is expected to continue for the next few days. Health experts have urged people to stay warm and be cautious of cold-related health risks as the winter deepens across the state.
