Odisha Poised to Become a Major IT Hub, Announces Union Minister During PBD 2025

10th January 2025: During the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2025, Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced plans to transform Odisha into a significant IT hub. Speaking in Bhubaneswar, he met with Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi to discuss the future development of the state’s rail infrastructure and the IT sector.

Minister Vaishnaw revealed that within the next 2 to 3 years, Odisha will become a “mega IT hub.” He emphasized the state’s commitment to building world-class IT training centers and fostering industries such as electronics, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence. A proposal for setting up an international IT training center in Odisha is also under review.

In addition, both leaders discussed the state’s role in advancing “Industry 4.0” technologies, including IoT, machine learning, and robotics. These initiatives are expected to provide Odisha’s youth with the skills needed to thrive in these rapidly expanding fields.

With the support of the central government, Odisha is on track to become a key player in India’s growing technology sector, offering vast opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and global partnerships.
