Bhubaneswar, January 17: The city is all set to welcome the FIH Pro League 2025, which will begin on February 15 at Kalinga Stadium. The event follows the conclusion of the Hockey India League (HIL) held at Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela, further strengthening Bhubaneswar’s role as a major hockey destination in India.
According to the FIH website, the first phase of the tournament will begin in Sydney, Australia, on February 4. The opening match will see the Netherlands take on Spain at the Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre. The competition will feature teams from the Netherlands, Spain, Australia, and the women’s teams from China, Spain, and Australia, running until February 9.
After the Sydney leg, the tournament will shift to Bhubaneswar, where teams from India, Germany, Spain, England, the Netherlands, and Ireland will compete in both men’s and women’s divisions. India’s women’s team will face England on February 15 in their first match, while the Indian men’s team will take on Spain on the same day.
The Pro League will then continue in Santiago, Argentina, from February 20. In the final phase of the tournament, each team will play eight matches, with the champions being decided in Bhubaneswar and Santiago. Last year, Australia won the men’s title, while the Netherlands emerged as the women’s champions.
