Dolphin Census Underway in Kendrapada and Chilika, Odisha

Kendrapada, 27 January: Dolphin counting began on Monday and will continue for three days. The count is being carried out from Rajnagar Bankhanda Dharmara to Devi Muhan, covering five ranges. Nine teams, each consisting of four workers, have been formed for the task. The counting process will take place from 6 AM to 12 PM each day.

Additionally, the Chilika Division of the Wildlife Department has initiated a dolphin count across the entire Chilika region. This includes counting both Irrawaddy dolphins and Bottlenose dolphins spotted in the Chilika lagoon and at the sea-mouth. A total of 18 teams have been organized for this count, with eight teams working in the Satapada range and ten teams in the Balugaon range.
