Odisha CM Reviews Plans for Urban Development in Greater Bhubaneswar

10th February 2025: Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi recently chaired a review meeting on various urban development projects, focusing on the Greater Bhubaneswar area. The discussions revolved around the proposed economic region that includes Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, and Paradip.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for urbanization and economic development to achieve a prosperous Odisha by 2036. The plan involves creating a sustainable economic region of 8,500 square kilometers, aimed at fostering housing, infrastructure, and long-term growth. He also suggested the integration of more areas over the next 50 years to ensure continuous development.

As part of the strategy to support Bhubaneswar’s growing population, plans for a new city development and metro rail system were also discussed. The Chief Minister recommended studying successful urban models from other states to guide the planning process.
