NCW Stresses on Effective Implementation of POSH Act in Odisha

13th February 2025: The National Commission for Women (NCW) held a meeting in Odisha on Wednesday to review the implementation of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace (POSH) Act. NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar emphasized the need for proper training of committee members to effectively enforce the law and raise awareness on preventing workplace harassment.

Rahatkar stressed that a safe and respectful workplace enables women to balance their professional and personal lives. She highlighted the importance of internal committees in workplaces and regional committees at the district level to ensure compliance with the POSH Act.

The NCW chairperson also proposed conducting training programs for committee members and increasing public awareness through advertisements and hoardings. She clarified that the law aims to prevent harassment and ensure justice, and those found guilty should face strict punishment.

The meeting was attended by key officials from the Women and Child Development department and senior officers from various government sectors.
