Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: NABARD has projected Odisha’s credit potential for 2025-26 at Rs 2.52 lakh crore, a 20% increase from the previous year’s Rs 2.10 lakh crore. This was shared in the bank’s state focus paper during a seminar.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo stressed the importance of increasing bank credit for the state’s key sectors, particularly agriculture. He highlighted government efforts to support infrastructure development and urged banks to provide more credit to farmers.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja emphasized improving the quality of lending as Odisha grows. He also encouraged banks to finance allied sectors such as dairy and fisheries. NABARD’s CGM, Sudhanshu KK Mishra, called for more credit flow to agriculture and allied sectors, while Cooperation Secretary Rajesh Prabhakar Patil noted the need for urgent improvement in credit flow to priority sectors.
